Rich Food / Poor Food

In watching Fox news this morning, I caught a segment on Rich Food / Poor Food which dealt with a new book by William David MD and it is an interesting book on how food additives and flavorings can cause you to eat more and make you believe you are still hungry when you are not. In many cases your Appestat does not shut down when it should. Food additives such as MSG, artificial flavors, high sugar content etc. can interfere with the digestive process. As an example sugar and high fructose corn syrup blocks calcium and magnesium absorption, and increases appetite.

Definition of APPESTAT

: the neural center in the brain that regulates appetite and is thought to be in the hypothalamus

Fox News also mentioned that on a typical Easter Sunday in America approximately 120 million pounds of sugar is present in all the cream filled eggs, chocolate bunnies, etc.  Ouch!

RICH FOOD, POOR FOOD: THE ULTIMATE GROCERY PURCHASING SYSTEM (GPS) NAMES CROFTER’S ORGANIC AS RICH FOOD

Crofter’s Organic Just Fruit Spreads have made it on the Calton Certified Micronutrient-Rich Foods List of Rich Food, Poor Food, The Ultimate Grocery Purchasing System (GPS).

Rich Food, Poor Food is the dynamic new grocery store guide by husband and wife team Mira Calton CN, and Jayson Calton PhD., who are also the authors of the critically acclaimed, bestselling book, Naked Calories. The authors are dedicated researchers and health professionals whose research shows that micronutrient sufficiency is an effective means to maximize weight loss and to mitigate the effects of many prevalent chronic diseases.

Rich Food, Poor Food, was designed to guide health and diet-concerned consumers through the nearly 40,000 items populating the average supermarket and quickly identify, what the Caltons call, Rich Foods. Those are natural, unprocessed, or minimally processed foods that are high in micronutrient content and low or void of problematic ingredients that can put health at risk.

It also helps readers identify Poor Foods – highly processed foods that are low or void of micronutrients, and often contain problematic and dangerous unhealthy ingredients. These inferior Poor Foods, when eaten on a regular basis, can decrease one’s micronutrient sufficiency. “Micronutrient deficiency is a state in which our bodies’ donot obtain the minimum daily requirements of essential vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids,” the Caltons explained. The Rich Food, Poor Food- GPS is specifically programmed to identify Rich Foods and avoid Poor Foods in each department of the grocery store, including dairy, fish and seafood, produce, condiments (like Real Salt), grains, baking, snacks and beverages.

In their prior book, Naked Calories, the Caltons revealed several unique research-based conclusions about the causation of health and disease. The first and perhaps most important is that micronutrient deficiency is the most widespread and dangerous health condition of the 21st century. The information in Naked Calories and Rich Food, Poor Food is gleaned from the result of extensive data from the Calton’s six-year, 100-country research expedition to study the dietary and lifestyle habitsof remote, semi-remote, and urban peoples around the world.

“Modern science now points to micronutrient deficiencies as contributing factors in many of today’s most prevalent health conditions and chronic diseases including osteoporosis, high blood pressure, heart disease, birth defects, and cancer,” they said. “In addition, micronutrients rich foods can maximize weight loss.”

The foreword for Rich Food, Poor Food is written by William Davis, M.D., #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wheat Belly. In it he states, “In Rich Food, Poor Food, the Caltons educate, delight, and tantalize readers with their straightshooting “here are the facts” style. Short of actually showing up at your front door and taking your hand down the aisle of the farmers market or grocery store, the Caltons show you, step-by-step, inch-by-inch, and micronutrient-by-micronutrient, how to best accomplish a healthy diet and lifestyle rich with the health benefits of plentiful micronutrients.”

The intro for Rich Food, Poor Food is written by Mark Sisson of the bestselling book Primal Nutrition and the incredible blog Marks Daily Apple. In it he states, “Rich Food, Poor Food is the Eat This, Not That for health conscious consumers.”

Rich Food, Poor Food is a must-have grocery store guide for anyone who wants to eat a healthy micronutrient rich diet void of over 150 dangerous, health-depleting ingredients all too common in America today.
